an insight into some of my artwork
"Jean Arp"
This piece reflects my love of research and exploration of different artistic styles. This piece was inspired by the works of Jean Arp, a German-French sculptor and painter. The collage in the middle of the sculpture was based on one of Arp's styles where he would drop random pieces of paper and glue them where they landed. This sculpture portion of this piece was created with plaster. This collage was created with tissue paper.
"Blooming Beauty"
Through this piece, I demonstrate my love for nature and the beauty of gardening. I enjoyed working with the yellow watering can against the gorgeous green background. This piece was done directly from life. This painting was completed with oil paint.
"Sculpting Dimension"
With this piece, I practiced working with three-dimensional figures and their shading. I also learned how to work with black charcoal against a piece of gray paper, which is what I used for this piece.
"Floral Reflections"
This piece focused on the reflection created by the bottle against the wall. The patterns that were formed were interesting and fun to create against the simple background color. The medium used in this painting was colored pencil.
"Luminous Plumage"
This piece continues to represent my love for nature, specifically birds. In this piece, the bird takes center stage and its elegant feathers and subtle details are emphasized. The contrast between the dark background creates a sense of depth and dimension. The medium used in this piece was white charcoal.
"Guiding Light of Maine"
This piece is based on a lighthouse I viewed and was inspired by in Maine. The vibrant colors and attention to detail truly bring the scene to life. The lighthouse serves as the main focal point in this painting, contrasting against the evening sky. This painting was created with watercolor and watercolor pencil.
"Serenity in Stone"
This piece was based on a sculpture of a face in stone. The attention to detail made the sculpture come to life on the paper. The medium used in this piece was pencil.
"Elegant Enchantment"
This piece features a glass vase against a background causing much reflection to come through the glass. Accuracy and precision in this piece were essential to capture the essence of this vase. The mediums used to create this piece were colored pencil and pastel.
"Petals of Tranquility"
This flower is a work of art that showcases the beauty and essence of the flower. I paid great attention to detail, resulting in a delicate and intricate piece. The shading and texture of the petals and leaves add depth and dimension, bringing the flower to life on the paper. It's a representation of the natural world's stunning beauty. The medium used to create this peace was pencil.
